Concussions are definied as violent blows to organs, most commonly the brain, that cause aftershock and can cause complications within the body. In athletics in today's society, the rate of concussions is on the rise and they are becoming more and more prominent in athletes. Regardless of age, toddler to senior, people are at risk for concussions. Concussions can occur from any type of external blow to the head. Due to the fact that external blows to the head happen so commonly in athletics, no matter what level, athletes are always extremely vulnerable to them. Recently, studies have shown that brain damage is being found among many athletes who have had concussions. This is concerning because the so commonly celebrated "fun" of sports is being violated and removed from the lives of athletes due to this dangerous problem. Doctors across the globe are in the pursuit of answers and solutions to this big issue. Different methods of head protection are being saught after by doctors and other experts in the medical field.
